Wendy Hilsen-Bernard, M.S., L.P.C. is a compassionate change-agent whose aim is to heal and empower. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Personal Coach, and Kripalu Certified Yoga Teacher trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and has been serving women, children and underserved populations for over 25 years. She has taught psychology and counseling at Western Connecticut State University, and has been a guest teacher at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center and The University of Connecticut.

Activist, advocate and visionary, Wendy has worked with many outstanding organizations over the years, including The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. (NCADV) As the author of A Woman's Place, her work has been hailed by the NCADV as "groundbreaking" and "powerful" and praised by Connecticut Lieutenant Governor Jodi Rell as "innovative" and "invaluable." In 2002 she participated in The Marshalls Women in Comedy Festival for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, honoring Whoopi Goldberg and featuring talk-show host Caroline Rhea. Wendy led workshops and retreats for the domestic violence communities in each city on the tour.

Wendy's expertise is in helping people create dignified, empowered meaningful lives. Her stress-reduction and self-care programs provide the tools, training and support people need to tap their inner resources and integrate them into daily life. Wendy lectures widely and has written and produced dynamic, inspirational, and socially engaged radio programs. She is especially thankful for the opportunity she was given to create a radio series on the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi.
At this time, Wendy maintains a private practice counseling and coaching women, clergy, professionals and underserved populations, and leads workshops and retreats nationwide. Her warm and engaging manner has made her a sought after trainer and keynote speaker at conferences and gatherings. She founded Still River Resources to reach out to people in need, and to create innovative programs that foster interfaith understanding, promote non-violence, celebrate diversity and create community.
